CLAHRC NWL bid news

At 10:30 am on Wednesday 3rd July the CLAHRC for Northwest London panel stepped into the jaws of the NIHR interview room

– would they come out with a favourable verdict and £10m to continue research into closing the 2nd translational gap?

CLAHRC NWL interview team & support July2013Led by Director Professor Derek Bell (second from right) the interview team was Tony Bell, CEO Chelsea & Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (centre), Nicola Kingston, CoChair of Healthwatch Lambeth and CLAHRC NWL fellow (third from left), Professor John Warner, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust (second from left) and Dr Julie E Read, Head of Research Strategy at CLAHRC NWL and Health Foundation Improvement Science Fellow (third from right).

Instead of a powerpoint presentation they presented an animated talk summarising some of the CLAHRC NWL approach and achievements todate, as well as the aspirations for the future.

They played like a true tag team for the questions, demonstrating how well we have all come together across disciplines, professions and backgrounds to address the ‘wicked problem’ of healthcare improvement.

Derek Bell described the whole application process as a team effort and offered thanks to all involved for their contributions in “shaping the application and contributing to the success of CLAHRC NWL to date.”

Of course, we don’t know the outcome yet. I’ll let you know when we do…
